Social Networking And Landing And Keeping A Job

Everybody realizes the dangers of using social media at work. There have been stories of people just about to get the job but then passed over because a picture of them drinking was posted on the internet. But it’s becoming increasingly clear that using social media at work may actually improve their employment prospects, and not just those in the marketing, advertising, and communications industry.

When it comes to landing a job, social media is a great opportunity for networking. If you’re trying to find a job and you are not on LinkedIn, you’re doing something wrong. But even the more friendship based social media sites like Twitter and Facebook can be a great way to ask people if they know of any opportunities for you.

When you get the job, social media has a place. According to Justin Rohatinsky, branch manager for the staffing agency Robert Half International, the number of companies that want their workers to use social media for business uses has increased vastly in the past few years. In 2009 he found that only 19 percent of companies would allow it, compare to 51 percent in 2001.

Of course you should make sure that your social media presence is positive. Take down any photos which you don’t want a prospective employer to see and make sure you do not badmouth your boss or divulge any company secrets online. You’ll be surprised to learn how many people still don’t understand just how bad a social media mistake can be in this day and age.

Social media is a sword that cuts both ways when it comes to jobs, but the message to take away is that wise use of social media can be a great advantage in both job seeking and retention.

When it comes to social media marketing in social media you have to be smart about what you do or say! Fishbat can guide you on how to use social media in a smart way for your business!. Free reprint available from: Social Networking And Landing And Keeping A Job.

Site Promotion

According to marketing textbooks, there are 4 “P’s”: Product, Price, Place and Promotion. How do these relate to promoting your website? In terms of improving a website’s online visibility, Place can be a key factor. Localization of your website can enhance its appeal to the audience you are targeting.

This is now an important part of search engine optimization as Google has recently added lots of features that can be utilized to more effectively create a local presence and accessibility, especially from mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones. An SEO and Internet marketing company is best suited to properly advise on methods that can be used to improve the local visibility of your website and ensure that your company website is listed in both regular and local search result lists.

If your website has international target markets, than one of the most obvious things to do is to translate the web pages into the other appropriate languages. Once you have done this, you can launch a search engine marketing campaign in the countries where that language is spoken. You could also get a local domain, local IP address and website hosting service provider which will also help you to achieve a higher ranking for your site in any given country. An SEO company can localize your URL and translate it into the appropriate language.

You can also research keyword strategies based on local, organic and online search engine marketing. Apart from keyword services, an SEO company can help you to find the most popular search keywords for any country, as keywords may be chosen and utilized differently in areas other than your regular country of origin.

Adding translated keywords in meta data, title tags and URL extensions as a part of a website coding campaign is also a good idea and shouldn’t affect the appearance of your web page and its content.

If you are selling home decoration items for example, your web page will have the information in English but a German search for “Dekoartikeln” will also lead browsers in Germany to your website if that particular keyword is included in your meta tags.

Listing your website on local directories and online yellow pages will also help improve its visibility, as will getting it listed in traditional yellow pages directories.

Above all, you need to have a clear goal in mind when planning a localization strategy for your website. Being able to determine where the majority of your customer base resides, and localizing your site for those specific areas, will provide the optimal benefits.

Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing often gets confused with search engine optimization, but there’s a distinct difference between the two, money. When engaging in search engine optimization there is usually no money being paid whereas search engine marketing requires you to pay in order to gain access to the services you desire. $13.5 billion was spent on search engine marketing in 2008 and the amount is increasing every year. The three largest players in search engine marketing are Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter.

Google AdWords is Google’s main source of income, in 2010 Google brought in $28 billion in advertising revenue. Google AdWords offers three main ways for companies to advertising, pay-per-click, cost-per-thousand advertising, and site-targeted advertising for banner or rich media ads. When using the pay-per-click system marketers choose how much they are willing to “bid” for a certain keyword, this means they set a maximum for what they are willing to pay-per-click. If there bid is high enough they will show up on Google as a sponsored link and hopefully be seen by the user. Marketers also have access to the “Google Display Network” which are sites that aren’t search engines.

Google will place banner or rich media ads on these sites for you based on keywords you have entered and what Google has determined the subject of the website to be. Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter both work very similarly to Google AdWords, but they don’t offer users the ability to enter a “display network” like Google does.

Search engine marketing has been the subject of some controversy in the past. Users would sometimes not be able to distinguish what were organic search results and what were paid placement search results. Most search engines now make it clear which results are organic and which are sponsored, but users still have to be cautious as changes are always being made.

A major controversy associated with search engine marketing is whether companies should be able to bid on the brand names or product names owned by their competition. Should Playstation be able to bid on the search term Xbox? This is an ongoing debate and even though Google has repeatedly changed its policy companies continue to complain.

Search engine marketing is an industry that’s growing larger and becoming more useful each year. Google, Yahoo!, and Microsoft provide the three most useful tools for getting involved in SEM, but as with everything, you need to be careful with how you use it and make sure your SEM practices are ethical.

5 Successful Social Media Campaigns

Social media is still relatively new so marketers are still figuring out how to use it effectively. Here are a few campaigns who used social media properly and saw excellent results.

1. The Gap- Popular clothing retailer The Gap teamed up with online coupon dealer Groupon and offered $50 worth of clothes for just $25. 441,000 of these coupons were sold which generated $11 million in revenue for The Gap. Not bad for a promotion lasting one day. This campaign helped The Gap gain new customers that they may have never reached otherwise. The Gap hopes that these customers stay with them and don’t shop at The Gap only when there are deals.

2. Mountain Dew- Mountain Dew ran a successful social media campaign based around the concept of DEWmocracy. Mountain Dew released three new flavors to the public and customers were then able to vote on which flavor they liked the best. The winning flavor would then be sold full time and the others would be canned. This campaign worked because it got customers involved and made them feel like they had a voice in the future of the Mountain Dew brand. This social media campaign generated buzz, which is always a good thing. The only downside is people whose flavors lost may feel betrayed by the company.

3. Old Spice- If you say “the Old Spice guy” to someone they immediately know who you are talking about. This shows how well Old Spice executed their campaign based around ridiculous commercials bending the laws of reality and pushing male bravado to a new level. Old Spice took to social media and had the Old Spice guy answers questions sent in by fans in a series of YouTube videos that generated a lot of views and created a buzz for Old Spice. Their sales haven’t yet shown it, but Old Spice is growing as a brand name.

4. The Arcade Fire- Grammy-winning band the Arcade Fire used social media in an interesting way to generate hype for their album The Suburbs. They created an “interactive music video” that asked users for their address and then local landmarks were used as Arcade Fire’s song “We Used to Wait” played. The experience was surreal as you saw a music video, but you could recognize all of the places in it. This innovative experience spread across the internet and gained Arcade Fire fans who had previously never heard of them.

5. The Blair Witch Project- Although much older than the other campaigns on this list there is no doubt it was an effective one. Before the release of the movie fake police reports and newspaper clippings were posted online about the teens that were supposedly taken by the “Blair Witch”. This excited moviegoers as they felt they were experiencing a movie that was truly real. The success of this campaign can still be seen today as some people still mistakenly think the Blair Witch Project is actual footage of actual teens.

SEO: Increase Sales And Visibility

If you want more sales, then you need to have more visitors. It’s impossible to sell if people don’t even know you exist online. This is where you want to start looking at SEO. Optimization of a website can increase drastically the number of views that you get and that means more money in your pocket.

It’s always a good idea to do what you can to gain publicity for your business and when that publicity is free, it would be ridiculous not to take advantage of it. The thing about search engine optimization is that it continues to work for your business to keep it higher in the search results. While some ongoing maintenance is required, such as link building and blogging, the basics only need to be set up once and your site will rise in the rankings.

It’s hard to learn to do your own optimization and it’s rarely a good idea if you are looking at only optimizing one website. Why learn more than you need to? It’s quick and easy to outsource and you’ll save time and frustration. Many business owners go this way so they can actually work on other areas of their business that more urgently demand their time.

An SEO company will provide you with everything you need. They will revamp your site, provide copywriting services and change your meta tags to your keywords. In many cases, they will also help you find the best keywords for your business.

While having an optimized website is perfect to start with, you’ll want to keep up the momentum. That means regular blogging or building links back to the website. The more links you have, the more important the search engines will consider your site. The more links out there to the site, the more traffic through those links, as well, not just the search engines.

Often, a business blog is the best way to go. You can rapidly build links back to various pages of your website and there will be a number of search engines that will give you a boost for this reason. Keywords should be used in the blog posts. You can even outsource this if you prefer not to write yourself, as it can take up a lot of time.

SEO is an important part of running a business online. Even if you are only establishing a basic presence online, you’ll need to be able to optimize everything to get more visitors. Make sure people can find you easily and you will see more sales.

Do You Know How To Protect Your Business When Hiring a Freelance Programmer?

Hiring a good freelance programmer for your programming project is not as difficult as it may sound. There are many talented coders available online to work for you and give you the kind of results you want. Knowing how to determine the best-suited professional is worth your time to discover. The necessary procedure you should use to hire a freelance programmer is not necessarily common knowledge. You can easily discover several important must-do procedures if you continue reading.

Before you go out and hire a programmer for your project, keep in mind that if you want to get quality results then you will have to spend some moolah for it. It is true that your returns equal your investment. It’s really easy to fall for coders from countries like India where they charge you as low as $50 to get a script done in a day. When it comes to evaluating programmers from Eastern European countries and others like India, for example, we suggest you keep an open mind. Let’s face it; if you’re even getting a simple script written for you, your goal is not short term, but more on the long term. Anything can happen to anyone, and all you can do is learn as much as possible and go forward. If you find that you have made a mistake, then learn from it and move on.

Whether or not you do your assessment and then follow your instincts is up to you, but we generally avoid that approach.

Whichever approach you use, be very sure to obtain credible information concerning jobs they have completed and feedback. This is where you have to be cautious because some of the programmers out there can fake their resume and show you phony project work. You can find websites where you can run your own background checks on people, so that is an option. Business is about controlled risk, but you can do a lot to minimize it.

You should include all your requirements in the job posting, so make sure you mention something about support after completion if you want it. Software breaks down from time to time, and usually good freelance programmers don’t stop at delivering the project to you, but go beyond and offer support for any issues that might come up. Even if the programmer has agreed to provide support, you need to be prepared if that person is not available for some reason.

As you begin looking for a freelance programmer, be sure you do not hire anyone until you verify their credentials. Getting through this the first time is the hardest, and the more times you do this you will become proficient. This article is by no means comprehensive, so continue your education regarding the task of hiring a freelancer.

SEO Articles-What You Must Be Aware Of

July 2, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Article marketing is perhaps the most important method for sending very targeted traffic to your blog or website. However, if you really want to get as much as possible from your efforts you need to make sure that your articles catch the attention of the search engine spiders so that you can generate cost free traffic. But the search engines will not help you even a little bit if the articles you create do not follow the search engine rules. If you really want long term success to result from your article marketing, it is vital that what you write is search engine optimized so that you can create a regular flow of traffic for yourself.

Use Acceptable Grammar in the Body: The articles that are written for marketing purposes must have proper grammar and sentence structure.

Using Anchor Text in Your Resource Box: For the sake of your business and for SEO purposes, HTML resource boxes are greatly preferred over plain text boxes. If at all possible, you need to use your keyword phrases as part or all of your anchor text. This is your most effective method for letting search engines know that you want to have your website associated with and ranked for those specific keywords. Never underestimate the power of HTML in your resource box when you’re looking to make the most from your article marketing efforts.

Write for Human Readers First: While you’re all excited about optimizing your articles for the search engines, don’t forget that you’re writing for human readers first. When your article doesn’t help the readers or if it is difficult for them to get through, getting ranked in the search engines is useless, even for your most important keywords, because–after all, it is the people who read the article who are most beneficial to your business efforts. The main objective for your business needs to be finding a way to balance the requirements of the search engine spiders while also giving your readers something of real value to read.

If your title is incorrect grammatically, then it will not be a good first impression for the people who do manage to find your website via the search engines. Even if you do end up getting ranked for this particular keyword, your visitor count will decrease because of this one stupid mistake. So be certain your title has the proper grammar.

In summary, this article discusses how important it is for you to use the search engines to your advantage to gain the most value from your articles and how to get them in front of the most viewers. It will take some time if you are new to using SEO. But, in the long run, you will see that the organic traffic you receive from the search engines is very good. This is because you do not pay money for it or put much effort into getting it. So start crafting quality SEO targeted articles.

The Unbeatable Benefits of Niche Marketing

Promoting your offers to a certain niche is often the most effective strategy if you’re marketing anything on the internet. While many marketers pay lip service to niche marketing, they often expend time and money going after larger, broader markets and run into difficulties. The smart way of entering into a market and taking a good share of it is to find a targeted niche and start from there. The purpose of this article is to provide some convincing arguments for putting your marketing efforts into a specific niche.

Niche marketing gives you the ability to reach your customers in a way that’s relevant and personal. Your customers will have no doubt that you know what they need, as all your efforts will be dedicated to this one niche.

There is less guess work involved and more practical application. You’ll be able to offer real value to people who are looking for genuine information and products in your niche. So if you’ve chosen a niche such as “inspiration books” you’ll be able to really focus on that area and find out what people are looking for. You wouldn’t be able to do this if you simply sold books of every description. There’s nothing more important in business than being able to connect well with your customers.

Every business is based on this simple emotion called trust and if you can strengthen it this way your market will be thankful to you..

Factually, a concentrated effort on a particular niche will result in being an expert in it.. As you comprehend the distinct issues in your niche and you discover answers over and over, you automatically excel.. Why do you think Rolex is the best at making watches?

It is a result of aiming towards something for an extended length of time. Presently, few watch makers hold that reputation.. And when you get good in your niche, you get powerful, which means you can demand a higher price for your solutions and guess what? People will be ready to pay for it, because they know you’ll give quality..

Niche marketing is very important. There are all sorts of reasons to dig deeper here but what matters most is that real success will only be found, no matter what your market, when you choose a single niche to focus on and forget what everyone else tells you. Overall, don’t be afraid to take risks and take consistent action if you want niche marketing to give you results. Internet marketing is mostly about getting some fundamental things right: like selecting a good niche.

Designing Your Homepage-Things to Be Aware of

May 17, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Because your homepage is the gate to your entire site, it is an integral part of your website. The purpose of this article is to show you how you can help your visitors unlock this gate and discover your site never before.

You should focus on using an SEO friendly title for your homepage because a large majority of the traffic generated to your site will be through the search engines. If you tend to ignore your homepage’s title, then the search engines will not grant you a higher ranking. Numerous website owners make the mistake of only putting the name of the product or company in the website’s title. But, when this strategy is used, they are stopping any chances of being able to get specific traffic. The first thing you should do is keyword research, so that you will be familiar with your key keywords. Then put these in the homepage title to get the best outcome. However, this is not saying that you should stuff your title with keywords. Restrict your keywords to two each and you should be okay.

If possible, don’t place external links on your homepage at all; if you must, keep them to a minimum. You do not want the authority of your site to be diminished by other sites you might be linking too. More importantly, using a lot of outgoing links on your home page encourages readers to go elsewhere. You want to show visitors around your site and let them know all that you have to offer. If you want your visitors to actually spend time on your site then don’t let them navigate to any other external link. Every visitor to your website is an opportunity for you to earn money but you won’t earn money for sending your visitors to other sites. The homepage is the first and last time that you can work magic on your visitors. This is the main reason why your homepage should have a design that is pleasing to the eye, but also easy for the visitors to go from section to section. Many webmasters and Internet marketers hold this assumption that the design isn’t important, but the content is. One could not say that website content is not important, but neither you make the same claim with design. Even before they get a chance to read your articles, people will see your design and judge you based upon that. Nobody will want to claim a website that looks like children built it. You have to be impressive in front of your targeted audience and really impress them with your homepage. Be sure that your homepage is not loaded with heavy unneeded content. A good design is always simplistic in nature. Do not fill your website with a lot of pictures that you do not really need, because this will slow down the website and not do what you want it to.

You can easily achieve this by adding self updating features that talk about the ‘Latest News’, ‘New Products’ and the ‘Latest Testimonials’ from your customers. These particular applications can be located with common sites that are database powered and with content management systems like WordPress. Another good method is to make use of RSS feeds to populate your homepage with the most up to date information that is taken from other different places from all over the web. By putting information on your homepage that is aggregated from other places, guarantees that you website will always have the most updated and relevant material for your subject.

When you use the above tips to optimize your homepage, you will see increased sales and conversions. You will see an overall improved response to your website if you alter your homepage in the right ways.
