Will Google’s Separation From China Allow Bing To Gain Ground?
At this point everyone has heard the news that Google is removing their search engine from the Chinese market. Whether they are doing this to stand up against the injustices of the Chinese Government or whether this is the Governments way of using Google as a lesson to any other company that will try to revolt against them, is not certain. However, what is certain is Google is losing their users from this market, may soon feel the effects of this.
The question is; will this allow for Bing to gain upper hand in the search engine market? If not the upper hand, it will definitely be a great chance to gain some ground. Although this is a wonderful opportunity for Microsoft, many wonder if they too will stand up to the injustice, or remain silent to the human rights issues and censorship that occurs daily in this nation. Although they have a great chance at picking up the Chinese market this will mean forming an alliance with the Chinese Government, and how will the Americans fell about this?
Look at it this way, Google made a stand against the injustices, something that many other businesses have not done due to the fear of losing the market. Americans have stood behind Google during this time, and respect them for putting what is right, ahead of making a profit for their business. Therefore, why would they respect Bing or Microsoft if they sell themselves and their belief short to gain the Chinese market on the internet.
Although many Americans feel very strongly about this issue now, it will begin to fad over time. Therefore, Bing will most likely not be to effective by their agreements with the Chinese Government. Bing has continued to raise on a steady level, since it’s plunge into the search engine market, and they will most likely continue to rise in popularity once all the hype of this issue wears off.
It was great to see Google take a stand against injustice and we can only hope that others will soon follow suit.
