The Beginners Short Tutorial on Copywriting
Copywriting takes years to learn how to do well, and that fact is exactly why so many non-writers involved with a web business have such a hard time.
When you’re creating copy, you should understand the importance of benefits and how they will help your prospects make a buying decision. What you need to do is learn the difference between a benefit and a feature. The main point about benefits is they bridge the connection between the features and the emotional and logical understanding in a person’s brain. So then any copy about benefits is meant to allow the reader to see what the product will do for them. There are some copywriters who find hundreds of benefits in a product or service, then they choose the very best ones to write about. When you think about that, you will see it is just about what most people will zero in on aside from the offer and price.
Do not be alarmed when your greatest copy ever to be written, according to you, is stale – no good, does not perform and just outright stinks. Honest and direct feedback is the best thing in the world for any writer and maybe especially when you have written copy rather than an article.
It is too easy to do spell/grammar check before you publish anything, so there is no excuse for mistakes in your copy. You either have the software in your word processors or can find it online for free. Another extremely important task that should never be forgotten is to do your proof reading and then revisions. It is also a pretty good idea to read what you write out loud because that has a way of highlight any awkward places. So you see, it really does take time, effort and hard work to learn copywriting and then work to make it better.
Always remember, you’re writing copy for your target audience, and not for yourself – so it should always be about them.
